The Power Of Reddit

This weekend I experienced the power of Reddit. I’m not a loyal reader of Reddit, I find the site being pretty weird, it looks like it was created in the last century, a very simple and boring design. I also don’t share my stuff on Reddit, because it has a limitation to the amount of links you can share through a period of time, I couldn’t put my finger on how long is that period. So, I didn’t really use it to share my internet marketing blog posts, but I had shared blog posts about games when I was writing them for my gaming blog which I recently sold (more on that tomorrow).

Yesterday, when I logged in to check my blog’s traffic stats I saw a huge bump in traffic. Around 300 hits all coming from Reddit to my new blog post that I wrote. It looked amazing. Apparently someone shared my blog post on Reddit for me ( thank you ) and it ranked on the firs spot on Entrepreneur category. I haven’t seen that much traffic coming to my site, every time I refreshed my stats there was at least ten more people visited my site.

I had no idea there was so much traffic on Reddit, it’s just incredible, even though the visitors didn’t convert very well to subscribers, actually they didn’t convert at all, I still got an advertising offer which I’m very happy about.

Also I broke my traffic record thanks to Reddit. Here’s how my WordPress Site Stats looked like yesterday.

I got 1018 hits in a day which is double my previous record which I made when I wasn’t hit by the Google Panda. 630 out of 1018 came from Reddit and I also broke the record of a single article views. Awesome.

So, as you can see the traffic is pretty crappy, the average visit duration is only 11 seconds and the bounce rate is 92,3%, not the traffic that I’m looking for, though it might be good for adsense sites.

Still crappy traffic is better than no traffic when you are getting it for free and I still managed to get a few extra subscribers and an advertising deal, but of course I would expect much more, if the traffic had came from Google.

From now on I will start regularly sharing my content on Reddit and you should too.
