The money is in the list. You have probably heard that from several gurus, but maybe you haven’t. The modern gurus probably use phrases like: The money is in a Facebook fanpage, or in your Pinterest boards, or in your Twitter following, or in your LinedIn profile, or maybe in your Google+ page? Well, I’m not sure what gurus are you following, but if they are saying: The money is in _____Fill in the blank, instead of: The money is in the list then they are just fooling you and building a list behind your back without telling you.
What’s The Biggest Advantage Of Email Marketing?
So, why is email so great compared to other, let me call them, “alternatives”. To understand this you need to know a thing or two about human psychology. Fact: People are very unlikely to buy from someone they don’t trust. How can you make people trust you? By communicating with them, your prospects have to perceive you like a friend and not as a stranger that’s trying to push its products to them. Fact: It takes an average of 4 interactions with a person for him to be likely to buy from you. Average is the key word in the sentence, some people will even buy your OTO offers at first interaction with you, some will buy from the 8 interaction, some after 30 or more and some just wont buy from you.
So, this means that you need to interact with a person more than once, if you want to sell. To interact with a prospect more than once you need to have a follow-up system in place to make it possible. Lets take Facebook fanpages for example, you spend money on FB ads to drive traffic to your fanpage, they come, like your fanpage and they leave. Now, every time you post something on your fanpage your fans have a chance to see it and that would be a second interaction, but your messages get buried in the feeds very quickly and even, if you prospect sees your message he might just ignore it and scroll down. So, Facebook isn’t a reliable follow-up system, because you can reach just a small group of your fans and not even the same ones all the time, neither is Twitter a good follow-up system, or Pinterest and any other medium.
Although email is not perfect your emails can bounce, land in spam folder etc. But it surely is the most effective follow-up system that is the most likely to deliver your messages to prospects than any other medium.
The Possibilities Of A List
As I said email is the most effective follow-up system that exists right now. With email you can easily interact with your prospects and build trust, this leads to making sales. Building a list should be your most important task, #1 thing on your to do list, not building a FB fanpage or getting Twitter followers. All the traffic techniques should build your email list and nothing else. When you have a list you constantly have people to interact with, as I said the numbers vary at how many interactions is needed to make a sale, but consistently mailing to your list you keep pushing these buttons and making sales, because the number of interactions for each person is different. Someone might even buy from you several times until another person just buys from you once, but you want to have all these people on your list, because eventually you will make money from them.
Now, I don’t want to be a fortune-teller, but when you build a list of around 5 000 you can expect a sale every time you send an email, but remember every list is different. Another big benefit of having a big list are the JV deals that can help you make a lot of money and build your list exponentially. Basically the bigger is your list, the better marketer you are, at least you are perceived as one.
Don’t give up building your list once you set the foundation it will become much easier after that. If you would like to learn how to build massive guru size lists, that help you win the JV prizes at product launches, lists that generate a steady income of thousands of dollars then click here.
