Guest blogging is one of the few SEO techniques that are still being used after you know what. Actually guest blogging even gained a lot of popularity, because there’s not that many techniques that are left. If you are using guest blogging to get higher rankings for your site and to drive traffic then you might want to know what does Google think about guest blogging?
Does Google like guest blogging or not?
I could write a decent article about that, but lets better listen to the Matt Cutt’s himself, the father of Google. He has shoot a video where he discusses guest blogging.
So, according to Matt guest blogging can go both ways either good or bad. There is two sides of guest blogging and I can only talk from the side of receiving guest posts, because I don’t write guest posts for others.
Well, it is pretty clear how could guest blogging go wrong, if I started accepting spun articles, crappy articles, duplicate articles and other stuff that neither Google or real people like. Matt calls this the extremes of guest blogging.
So, guest blogging is good until the articles are high quality, something that people enjoy reading. Google is all about quality content and if you don’t provide it or people who are guest blogging for you don’t provide it then you can get in trouble for creating a junk blog.
Guest blogging is a safe technique to rely on, because webmasters don’t let the junk to come through, if you are receiving guest posts make sure to read every one of them, because there really is a lot of people who want to do guest blogging the wrong way, if there are sentences in the article that doesn’t make sense it is definitively a spun one. Rule of thumb, don’t post guest posts that you wouldn’t read yourself.
