It seems that the Pinterest craze has wormed off. I haven’t seen a promotion in my email inbox for a Pinterest marketing product for at least a week, possibly even more. But don’t get fooled, Pinterest didn’t go anywhere, it’s still there and growing bigger and stronger day by day. There’s already a ton of people using Pinterest and the amount doesn’t seem to stop growing. Who knows how big will Pinterest get in a year or two, maybe bigger than Facebook?
So, building up your following today is a good idea. There is traffic on Pinterest and you do want a piece of it right? So, here’s some ideas how to get a bigger slice of that pie.
The first thing that you should do which is pretty obvious really, is to share a lot of pictures on Pinterest. Don’t just share your own images, there’s probably a ton of images in your niche that you can re-pin and if there aren’t then don’t really expect a lot of traffic from Pinterest, but don’t give up on it yet, there is a technique how to create images in a niche where there isn’t pictures to share. This technique is used a lot in the self improvement niche.
You can see an example of this technique above. You create an image where you write up a tip or just the title of your post and you pin this image, if you have at least some experience in your niche you will have no problem with coming up with ideas for these.
The next thing that you should have in mind, if you want to drive more traffic to your blog from Pinterest is to share images that grab attention, tall images get a lot of attention. So, try sharing infographics or stack up some images into a one big one, of course the images should tie up somehow.
If you are really serious about Pinterest then don’t you ever forget to put at least one image into your blog post, if the images are good people that read your blog will pin them and you can get some viral traffic from this. Also, if you wont add at least one image to your post you wont be able to pin it, right?
In case you forget to add an image to your post, it is a good idea to have default images on your site that show up on every page of your site.
And the last tip that I want to give you is to put videos in your blog posts, if you didn’t know you can pin them as well, but unless the video is made by you, you wont get any traffic back to your blog, you will need to take an extra step after pining a video: Go to Pinterest, find your pin and click edit then change the video link to your blog post, don’t worry the video will still work.
So, I hope you got some ideas how to drive more traffic from Pinterest, make sure to put them to use.
