I have found today a great article about SEO myths. Well, they aren’t really myths I should say, just some SEO techniques that used to work not that long ago and doesn’t right know, but there are still people that think that they work.
Myth #1
Metatag Descriptions Help Your Rankings
This one was new to me. I wasn’t really using meta descriptions to stuff keywords for better rankings lol, but now metatags aren’t even indexed by the search engines. Metatag descriptions now have a sole purpose, to inform people what is the page about and you should use this space to write up a convincing description to make people want to go to your site.
Myth #2
The More Inbound Links, the Better
I think even some of the so called SEO experts still believe in this. For example, just recently a new version of SEnuke was released, the software creates tons of backlinks to the site that you want, but just building backlinks from various different sites that have no value wont do anything good for your site. Instead, you can even get penalized for building spammy backlinks.
Myth #3
Google Prefers Keyword-Rich Domains
This is really just a recent change to the Google algorithm. A domain which has keywords in it don’t have better chances of ranking for that keyword. Personally, I always was for the regular domains and having domains that consisted of only keywords looked kinda silly to me. This change is a bid pain in the ass for domain brokers a lot of domains are now way less valuable, because there is no emphasis to the keywords.
Myths #4
Websites Must Be ‘Submitted’ to Search Engines
Great news, you don’t need to worry anymore about pinging your website. All you need to do to get your site indexed is to have backlinks pointing to your site and site will get indexed.
Myth #5
Good SEO Is Basically About Trickery
The myths are taken from http://www.inc.com/
Gone are the days when everyone was looking for ways to trick Google to rank their website higher, to get more traffic. Now by trying to outsmart Google you will eventually just get slapped. Google is just too smart right now and it will get smarter and smarter.
So, don’t get stuck with the old methods of SEO everything is changing and you need to adapt to it.

This is just a step forward to it.
